Every year, Â鶹ÉçÇø holds a volunteering event called the 'Â鶹ÉçÇø Cares Day of Action.' This year, the event will take place on Saturday, September 20, with non-profit organizations around Fredericton.
Â鶹ÉçÇø Cares is a meaningful way for both new and returning students to connect with the Fredericton community and gain volunteering and hands-on experience.
Â鶹ÉçÇø Cares prioritizes local support while also offering students ways to connect with peers who are passionate about important causes. The event helps foster a relationship between learning and volunteering, and many of our event partners offer the chance to continue volunteering in a more consistent capacity.
Past issues addressed during Â鶹ÉçÇø Cares include poverty, food security, environmental preservation, housing, violence prevention, youth health, and community building.
This year’s event is planned to be fully in-person. Students will spend approximately two hours working with their assigned community organization, and then conclude with group reflection activities and a skills articulation workshop upon their return to campus. Food and snacks will be provided for the day for all Â鶹ÉçÇødents attending.
Volunteering at this event counts as 7 volunteer hours towards the community engagement portion of Â鶹ÉçÇø’s Certificate in Experiential Learning & Community Engagement.
