Details: The World Nuclear Industry Status Report () provides an in-depth analysis of nuclear power, using plant-level data to assess its global status.
This year’s edition finds that nuclear power continues losing market share, with the nuclear energy now supplying just 10% of global electricity, down from nearly 18% in 1996. Renewable energy, excluding hydro, now generates more electricity than nuclear plants.
This year’s report includes a special emphasis on Nuclear Power and Climate Change Resilience. The report finds that droughts, heatwaves, and severe storms all pose significant challenges to nuclear plant operation, and it includes a detailed examination of how climate change is affecting nuclear energy in France.
